Free Storytelling Resources? Yes, Please!

I am so excited to announce two free resources for download!

The first is a brand new infographic to help you strategize your editing process.

Remember when you learned PEMDAS in middle school math? Your order of operations, right? This was the way you were supposed to do math—parentheses, exponents, multiplication/division, addition/subtraction. Follow PEMDAS, and you come up with the right answer.

For too many years, I edited out of order. I would agonize over one sentence only to delete the entire page later. I would move paragraphs and dialogue around only to shift entire sections or chapters later, thus rendering the dialogue obsolete or inadequate. I created more work for myself by not editing in the right order.

If only I’d had this infographic, it would have saved me so much time!

You get to benefit from what I learned by trial and error. Download my free infographic “Editing: An Order of Operations” and keep it handy when you have documents to edit.

The second is my hot-off-the-press e-book 7 Mistakes People Make When Writing a Book (And The Success Strategies to Avoid Them).

Again, you get to benefit from the lessons I learned the hard way!

I’ve been writing book-length fiction off and on for more years than I’d care to admit. It’s only been in the last seven or eight years that I’ve really started to figure out a few things about how to actually get a book from start to finish.

For the first time, I’ve written down the most important lessons I’ve learned along the way.

(Full disclosure: I’ve made every one of these mistakes to one degree or another.)

If you’ve ever considered writing a book—fiction or non-fiction—download my free e-book before you write a single word. You’ll learn what mistakes to watch for, how to avoid them, and what strategies to implement to improve your chances of getting your book all the way to the finish line.

To give you a preview of what’s in the e-book, I’ll be sharing a little about the mistakes I made here on the blog. Starting in two weeks, I’ll look at each one of the mistakes, tell you what I did to fix it, and offer some advice for how to address, avoid, or fix it in your own book-writing efforts.

If you absolutely cannot wait to hear all of my mistakes, or if you don’t want to hear what happened to my work, I recommend you download the e-book today and start reading.

But if you still aren’t sure if I have any useful advice for you as you start your book-writing journey, or if you just like to laugh at other people's silly mistakes, hang out here for the next several weeks.

In two weeks, "Mistake #1: Underestimating the Time Commitment."

Can't wait to read all the mistakes one at a time? Download the e-book today!
